New dual boot set-up - XP/Vista - "mysterious" 2nd Vista OS in boot manager

Thread needs solution

Hi, Seems I can't get free direct support from Acronis for my DD10 any more. Hope someone can help.

Have been helping someone with their XP woes. Therefore, decided to install XP again along-side Vista. Imaged my established Vista set-up using TIv11; reformatted disk (single part'n) and then clean installed XP; installed DD & activated OS selector, created new partition & re-lettered XP partition (so Vista could go back on C:); then clean installed Vista x32 (OEM). Then I restored my original Vista (C:) image over the clean Vista installation. Worked just fine. However ...
... OSS (having been re-activated) then showed two Vista OSs (one of which was "hidden" - so I un-hid thinking I could explore the installations to determine what was what - no joy there, however, as only 1 Vista installation appeared in DDv10. (Unfortunately I can't remember whether it was "Windows Vista" or "Windows Vista (2)" that had been hidden, but I find that only "Vista (2)" will boot.)

Scratching for a possible explanation: "protect system folders" was on when I restored my original Vista set-up.

Since it took a very long time to reach this point, I don't want to mess anything up and have to start again. So my question: can I safely delete the unbootable "Windows Vista OS" found by OSS (without messing up the bootable "Windows Vista (2)" OS)?

Post a copy of the BOOTWIZ.OSS file and I'll take a look at it (instructions can be found here). In most cases, you should be able to delete the bad entry. However, it can help to know what OSS sees.

Thanks MC. BootWiz (.txt) attached.

(Perhaps I should have said, but I also set up an Acronis partition - I found BOOTWIZ.OSS there.)

Edit: MudCrab - Editing this post to save you time. Developed problem with the XP boot (not sure what I did or didn't do) so re-installed XP trusting (this time) that Acronis would, as advertised, overcome issue of earlier Windows version being installed after later Windows version. While I was about it, I thought I might as well have a go at deleting the non-bootable OS that OSS found. You suggested all should be well and, actually, all is good so far: I've done several reboots with several switches between Vista and XP. Working at the moment - thanks for the offer to investigate.

Usually, if OSS is going to have a problem when you delete an entry you will know it right away.
