New PC UEFI & GPT Boot Media Not Working

Thread needs solution

I have had no problems using Disk Director on my old PC but my new PC simply shows a black screen after the splash screen when using bootable media.

Does the Disk Director 11 boot media (Linux based) support PCs with UEFI BIOS and >2.2TB GPT disks?

Disk Director 11 does not support GPT partitions, GUID disks or drives based on EFI firmware apparently. Even though the specifications for those current technologies have existed for a long time - long enough for all the competing partition software to support it.

It would appear, given how long it tool Acronis to officially support Windows 7 with the release of DD11 (long after Win 7 went RTM), the are giving as few resources to updating DD to incorporate support for the above technologies.

Therefore, with the absence of any more positive information, it will be a long time before DD supports GPT, GUID and EFI.

EaseUS works apparently http://www.partition-tool.com/easeus-partition-manager/resize-gpt-disk-…

I had the same problem with the TIH 2012 boot disks. Only solution was to build WinPE based boot disk. I cannot find that option for Disk Director.

In the DD userguide it says to download the appropriate AIK (Automated Installation Kit) from microsoft) and inside the 'Acronis Bootable Media Builder' there is an option to build a WinPE bootable iso or wim.
