Thread needs solution

Hallo,
With the attempt to update Disc Director 11 I kept the error message " The configuration files for this program are damaged" , turn to the support. The message appears also with the attempt to uninstall Acronis Disc director 11.
Is there a solution?

Hello!
I had a similar problem after upgrading von Vista to "7", as DD10's installer refused to work and I could not get rid of the old version when trying to update to DD11 (which I have left meanwhile).
Aside from asking Acronis Support for help you can try the folowing which worked for me:
***WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY, MAKE A BACKUP FIRST!***
1) Get Microsofts Installer Cleanup Utility. They have withdrawn it, but a Google-search for msciuu2 should help.
2) Use the tool to remove DD10 from the installer database.
3) Remove all DD10-folders on your HDD manually.
4) Remove references to DD10 or it's folders from the registry.
5) Remove the MSI-File stored on your HDD by DD10 for repair/modification of the program. This file has a name consisting auf letters and digits which I don't know, perhaps you can find it in your registry at HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Disk Director before executing step one.

You can try to install DD11 after step two, but I am not sure whether this works and parts of DD10 will remain. Step 5 is optional. Be aware, that you may have to repair or reinstall other Acronis products after following the complete procedure as you will delete some commonly used files.

You can also take a look at http://www.wilderssecurity.com/archive/index.php/t-120567.html . There is a similar, slightly different description.

Hope this helps!
