OS detection wizard appears to be frozen

i hope this is the right forum for OSS issues.

I've reinstalled oss; it sees the first os just fine. I ran os detection to install the second os and at the "operating system location" screen I chose "detect os on partition". I clicked "next" and the button depressed and now...nothing. My mouse cursor moves but I see no hd activity (light isn't blinking). I don't want to interrupt the detection process but I also don't want to stare at a locked program for 2 days.

What should I do?
