OS Selector Problem with multiple OS

Thread needs solution

Hi, i have the last build of disk director, and i have been using the os selector for several months, the program works fine, i have to install in every OS that i have. I have 3 windows xp, one for me, other for family and other for my brother, but i buy a new cpu, and i want to install the windows xp 64 bit. After format my previous windows, i install the new 64 bits, but the problem is that the other 2 windows cannot boot, and OSS dont detect them. Seems to be that one of the 2 windows have de boot.ini, in my partition that i format for my new windows. I try to enter in the recovery console in the windows installer, fixboot and fixmbr, but it doesnt work. Also try with the diskette program that is attached to the first post. I dont know what to do, please help me with any instruction. I leave the image of my partitions and the bootwiz.txt for examination. Thanks

Do you have a backup image of your old Windows partition? It might help to see the original boot.ini file.

Do you have access to an old BOOTWIZ.OSS file (from before you formatted the partition)? It may help to see it.

Which partition contains the OSS installation files (the main BOOTWIZ folder)?

Hi, thanks for the early answer. Here is the boot.ini, where "windows mio" is the old windows that i delete, and the other is the windows that cant boot.

Have you tried adding the entries back into the boot.ini file in the new WinXP x64 partition? It may allow OSS to redetect them. It's also the easiest thing to try first.

Edit your boot.ini file using Notepad and add the following line at the end of the [operating systems] section:

;multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(3)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

(Note: It should all be on one line.)

Then save the file and then reboot and see if OSS picks it up. If it does, the other one can be added. If it doesn't, we'll try something else.

If it's the "PAPA" partition, I think it should be this:

;multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
