OSS problem, Linux partitions set to partition type 0xbb ( Acronis hidden )

Thread needs solution

Somehow my Linux partitions are all set to partition type 0xbb ( Acronis hidden ) even when I tell OSS not to hide the partition when booting a Linux distro. Naturally booting fails when I try to boot.

When I look in my bootwiz.oss I notice that there is no entry for the particular unhidden Linux partitions when I boot a Linux distro. The only entries I see are for the particular partitions which must be hidden, with the 'hidden="1"' parameter set.

Do I need to set 'hidden="0"' to get OSS to properly unhide the Linux partitions when I boot into a Linux distro ?

Or should I just manually set all the Linux partition types from 0xbb to 0x83 in DD11 to get OSS to work properly ? I notice in DD11 that even when DD11 shows a Linux partition as not hidden the partition type is still 0xbb.

I have no idea why OSS does not automatically set a partition to the correct partition type when it is unhidden. Needless to say my Linux distros will not boot from a partitiion whose partition type it does not recognize as a valid Linux partition.

You'll probably have to set the partition types back to the correct values and not set them to hide. I don't know if I ever tried hiding Linux partitions.

Have you tried leaving the partitions all visible and just not mounting the ones you don't want to see in the Linux OS?

I did set the partition types back to there normal values and I was able to boot into each of my Linux distros. Now OSS works fine again. I do see that OSS sets the partitions types back to 0xbb when they are hidden, but now everything works. I have no idea why OSS originally did not set the partition types back to their normal values when they were not being hidden.

OSS is wonderful when it works but really puzzling when it does not.
