Partition Failure

Thread needs solution

I tried to add a partition to my system drive and now my computer is screwed!

I installed Acronis OS Selector, and then proceeded to partition my drive. The partition apparently failed and when the computer rebooted I received an error message saying "Acronis OS Selector cannot find the necessary configuration files. Please reinstall Acronis OS Selector."

When I load the Acronis Boot Disk, my system drive (which is 600 gb) shows that there is no available space on it, and that there is no operating system!

I have tried the Acronis Utility disk, and also tried repairing from my Windows 7 disk, but to no avail.

I tried to perform a few actions on the drive while in Disk Director, but get a message saying that the Volume is corrupted and I should run an error check on the drive.

The last backup I made was around two months ago, so if I have to use that, I won't lose too much.

Of course, I'd rather not lose anything, so any suggestions?

Can you post a screenshot of what DD shows for the drive?

What repairs did you try from the Windows disc? Were you able to browse the partition?

Have you tried creating a new backup?

Were you repartitioning using DD in Windows or were you booted to the DD CD?

Thanks for the reply MudCrab, but after chatting with Acronis support for over three hours, we were unable to resolve the issue and I was forced to do a reinstall.

To answer a few of your questions, I was attempting the repair utility from my Windows 7 disk (I tried several different options) but Windows could not find a valid operating system. No I was not able to browse the partition because there was no partition, only a single drive that showed as completely full.

I was repartitioning from Windows and not the DD CD.
