Partition resize fails

Thread needs solution

I am trying out V10 of Disk Director but all attempts to use the re-size command fails. The slider won't move and when the new size is entered manually it just resets to the original size and nothing happens.

It might be that the trial version does not allow this operation but there is nothing to say so and if that is the case, how is one supposed to 'trial' the software?

Some time is better do not say anything but Iam furious with this program.
I both Acronis Disk Director 10.0 when I had XP 64 installed on my desktop and the program never work fine. Then, after a lot of problems I decide to up grade to Vista professional 64 and the program never work fine. Recently, I decide to go back to XP professional to see how is going and finally Ian happy again except for Acronis, is still not working properly.
I made a CD restore with it and the mouse don't work in DOS. Then, I decide to increase the OS partition and I get it done but after reboot the system I can get Windows XP work again.
I don't understand how they come with a new version if the previous one don't work properly.

Hello all,

Barry,

The trial version doesn't allow to commit the changes, i.e. after you hit the Proceed button the notification about the trial version limitation should appear. But you should be able to perform all pre-operation actions. Most probably, the file system of your hard drive contains errors. Could you please check the disks for errors?

- Go to the Command Prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd)

- Enter the command: "chkdsk DISK: /r"

where DISK is the partition letter you need to check. Please note, that checking the C: drive may require you to reboot the machine.

After that please try to manage the operation. Please let us know the results, we will make the program to run as expected.

Anibal,

I would recommend you to create ISOLINUX Bootable Media to perform the desired operations under it.

ISOLINUX Bootable Media is usually more up to date than the Acronis Loader one. This is due to the fact a new version of Acronis Bootable Media is uploaded to the web site more frequently than regular product updates are released.

You can learn more on how to download the necessary file here.

Check the possibility to use your mouse and execute the operation. If the mouse is still unusable, could you please let us know the exact model of your mouse.

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.

Thanks for the information. I just arriving in The Linux word. I recently install Ubuntu 9:10 in a second HDD but, You know, is a new world to explore, to many diferents options; Ubuntu ,Red Hat, Fedora.... and I just started last week. It's going to take me a long time to know what and how to use.
Thanks you.

My partition resize failed in a different way. I was able to resized my c: partition and then selected the Commit to the operation. And then it prompted me to click the Reboot button. I did not click the Reboot or the Cancel button instead I scheduled a reboot later on and locked the keyboard. I checked it the following day and the server rebooted but did not create or perform the partition resizing.
Is there a way to delay the reboot after resizing a partition?
