Partition resizing question

Thread needs solution

Hi,
I was hoping this would be obvious how to do (never had any trouble using Partition Magic), but it's not.

I have a primary partition with just C: on it, and an extended partition with D/E/F.

I'd like to take about 5 Gigs of the free space on E, and give it to C.

When I select the option to resize C, there's a checkbox for getting the space from other drives, but I do not understand how it works. How do I tell it to take the space from E?

Thanks.

BD:

Do it the way you would with Partition Magic. If your partitions are adjacent to each other and in the order C: first, then D:, then E:, then F:, you would do the following:

1. Right-click on the E: partition and choose "Resize". Drag the left border of the partition to the right to make the E: partition smaller by 5 GB.
2. Commit this operation and check the result. You should now have 5 GB of unallocated space between D: and E:
3. Right-click on the D: partition and choose "Resize". Drag the entire partition to the right so that it moves up and adjacent to the E: partition, leaving 5 GB of unallocated space between C: and D:
4. Commit this operation and check the result.
5. Right-click on the C: partition and choose "Resize". Drag the right border of the partition to the right to make C: 5 GB larger.
6. Commit this operation.

It's easier to do than to describe. You'll get the hang of it once you start the first resize operation.
