Power went off while converting form Primary to Logical

Thread needs solution

I was converting a partition form Primary to Logical on my laptop using "Acronis Disk Dicrector" on DOS
and suddenly the power went off - @ about 90 % progress -

When i logged on to Windwos .. Scan Disk appeared and it started removing data from this partition showing this message "Deleting orphan file segment" over and over

Now I have my partition but totally empty :( :(

Help please !

You will probably need to run some data recovery programs on the drive/partition and see if anything can be found. However, it's very possible that the data is gone.

It's recommended to create an Entire Disk Image backup before making any partitioning changes. If anything goes wrong you will be glad you did.

Were you just converting the partition or were you also moving and/or resizing it?

How long did it take for DD to get to 90%?

Was DD doing the conversion in Windows or did it reboot to run it (or were you using the DD CD)?

You may want to consider purchasing a good UPS.

I tried a lot of recovery software .. and they found most of data but undirected i.e. files are named "Lost File <####>"

While "GetDataBack" software retrieved the whole data with the same directory tree .. but when i recover them , they are corrupted

About 1h 30min

I was using DD CD on DOS

And thanks very much for your response

There's probably not really anything else you can try. The old file table may be intact, but it's worthless since the data has moved (hence the corrupted files).

What version and build of DD are you using?

What size was the partition?

How much data was on the partition?

What format was the partition using (FAT32, NTFS, etc.)?

When you say DOS, do you really mean the Safe Mode/SafeMedia version or do you just mean you booted to the DD CD? Linux is the default (DD 11 only has Linux, DD 10 has both).
