Problem regaining unallocated space

Thread needs solution

You can see at http://mewnlite.com/DiskManagement.jpg that Windows Disk Management is showing 25.89 Gb unused space in between 5 other partitions. I want to increase the size of the D partition using that space. When I open Disk Director it opens a similar window and then freezes. It cannot be killed by task manager. I'm running XP Pro SP3 and Disk Director 10. There is no way to power the computer down except hold the button in.
So I boot from the CD and it comes up to the same screen. I choose the D partition and click on Add Free Space. That screen repeats making me pick "D" again. Then the next screen asks where I want to get the free space from. But the graph isn't there anymore and the only options are C, D, E, F, and G. The unallocated free space does not come up as an option.
The only screen shot I can provide is the Windows Disk Management window. In Windows, the Acronis windows comes up and freezes so I can't take a screen shot.
How do I recover that unallocated space?

Ben:

Use the function "Resize". Right-click on the D partition and choose "Resize". Drag the slider to the right to enlarge the D partition. You can do this from the boot CD.
