question on resizing partitions

Thread needs solution

I'd like some input on how i intend to resize partitions on my hard drive. I intend to increase the size of partitions C and G by taking space from partitions E and F. This is how i intend to proceed:
1. shrink E and F; reboot.
2. Increase G by taking unallocated space in front of it (that is, some of the space obtained by reducing F), reboot.
3. using boot media, increase C by taking unallocated space obtained by shrinking E and F, reboot.
Does this sound like a good way to do it? Will I have problems trying to increase a partition using space not adjacent?

Thanks for comments and suggestions. and oh, yes, there is data on all of the partitions.
DD10 build 2239, vista sp1

I hope you have a backup image of the drive.

Doing it in separate steps as you propose is a good way. I try to avoid resizing operations that involve non-adjacent space as DD has to move a lot of data and there's more chance of a problem. It can also take a very long time.

1s DD tells you to do so?

As long as the space you are adding has no files, all you need to do is move the space to be adjacent to the partition to which you wish to add the space, then tell DD to add the space.

If the space to be added contains files, it would be safer to move those files to the other partition, then add the now empty partition.

I would not rely on DD, or any other partition manager, to move files, better to do on your own.

AFTER doing whatever you wish to do.
1. Make an image backup of ALL partitions.
2. Use a good defragger, such as Perfect Disk, on ALL the partitions.
3. Make another image backup.
4. Take a breaK, e.g., eat a pizza.
