Recommended size for OSS partition?

Thread needs solution

I'm a long time Disk Director user, that is now moving to a multi-boot environment using 2 disks. I have read that the most problem-free way to use OSS is to create a dedicated partition for OSS to save its files. In this way, if the original files are moved (such as from a defrag) everything still works.

This sounds reasonable, but I've found no information about what the recommended size for such a OSS partition would be, and how to setup OSS such that it uses this dedicated partition.

I've also read conflicting suggestions on how to install the second OS .... through the OSS new OS wizard, or manually by itself, and later installing OSS to detect it and setup the multi-boot.

Thanks for your help.

If you create a dedicated OSS partition, it doesn't need to be very large. Around 100-150MB is fine. It can be FAT32 or NTFS and it can be Primary or Logical. To make OSS use the partition, select the Custom install option when installing OSS and then select the dedicated OSS partition.

I prefer manual installations of additional operating systems. However, if OSS properly sees your installation CD/DVD, you should be able to do it through the wizard. I just like having control over the process and knowing that OSS isn't going to get in the way. If you make a backup image of the drive prior to beginning (highly recommended), you can always go back and try the other way if needed.

If you would like more specific information, please post more details on your current setup and what you are planning.
