Recovering unallocated space.

Thread needs solution

Im having a time with DD 11 home.
I just installed a second drive with a previous install of W7 on it, wont dual boot need to reinstall...irrelevant.
Drive is now installed and i was looking at it from the current OS with DD11
shows
disk1 (current)
MAIN HDD 298.1 189( free) Primary MBR
unallocated 10.34

disk 2 ( new drive)
unallocated 86.29MB
Local Volume 298.0 297.9GB Logical MBR

Disk two is what im working with...
why is there 86.29 unallocated, and how do i merge it into the local volume?
If i highlight it and create volume, no matter what i try the new volume is taken form the "local volume".

Basically i want a clean un-partitioned drive to which to install the new OS.

Side note: Why is the unallocated space on my main drive at the end and at the front of the new drive?

There's often a little amount of space left at the end of a drive. It's also normal for there to be space at the beginning of a drive when the first partition is Logical (like Disk 2).

If you want to clear it out, it's probably best to just delete the partition and then create a new Primary partition for the OS.
