Do you have TI (True Image) installed?

Are you getting a prompt on booting to press a key to run a recovery?

The partition is most likely the recovery partition for an OEM version of TI. If you don't need it anymore or don't want it, I would think you should be able to delete it.

Did you run into any specific errors trying to remove it?

Do you have a current backup of the Entire Drive (always recommended before making partitioning changes)?
