Resizing Win 7 System partition on a solid state disk
I need to resize a win 7 system partition on a solid state disk. and Acronis Disk Suite has been unsuccessful leaving my OS corrupt. Can anyone advise which, if any, version of Acronis is capable of resizing a system partition on a SSD?

I agree with Muddy, try DM first ---- my experience : Windows 7 disk management (DM) wouldn't let me expand my C partition into a neighboring Q partition with plenty of excess space - I figured this Lenovo specific partition (i.e. Q) was verboten for some reason & so I shrunk Q using DM - that worked & "unallocated" space resulted next to Q - you can see this graphically if you open DM ( i.e. start/control panel & search on "partition") - I was still unable to expand C using DM.
I'm hoping Acronis Disk Director ( $50 ) will allow me to recapture this space & give it to C - my original reason for getting the bigger SSD.

Hi MudCrab,
Tried DD11, in the DD console and disk managment console the C: has expanded but when I open "computer" the HDD still displays the before resizing disk size.
Any ideas?

Did you try using the DD CD or just DD in Windows? You may need to resize it smaller, apply the change, and then resize it larger again. This happens when the file system reports one size and the partition size is actually something else.
Hopefully, you have a backup image of the drive.

I have used disk director 11 and true image 17. It seems to perform the process of resizing C: drive. But there is not any change in space length. System occupies 56gb SSD. The SSD is a 240GB. It shows resizing expansion without any issues but does not show the space being larger. Does it make a difference when the drive is Basic Structure compared to having a Dynamic Structure? Win 7 Pro

David, both basic and dynamic disks could be resized. I suggest you to create a bootable media, boot your computer from it and reattempt resizing. That way the operation would be performed in an isolated environment, where no other software could interfere or conflict with Acronis Disk Director.
Note that if you peform resizing as part of recovery job in Acronis True Image 2017, you can get technical support on this for free, just submit your request here.
