Update for Disk Director Suite 10.0 failed.

Thread needs solution

Hi All,
I have registered T.I. 9 Home & D.D.S. 10.0, trying down load an update for Disk Director Suite 10.0 Build 2239, Sep.28,2009 listed in Product Updates page. Since I could not initiate download, I have contacted Indian based support though a chat session. Needless to say that it was a session of torture. Finally, I was given a link to get DiskDirectorSuite10.0.2239_s_en.exe. It does not run, giving me Msg. “DiskDirectorSuite10.0.2239_s_en.exe is not a valid Win32 application. I run Windows XP Home. I hope this post will be noted by Acronis. What should I do? Hope, I do not have to go through Indian support.
Also, I was told that there is no update for True Image 9.0 Home Build #3854, Dec.11,2006. Kind of hard to believe- no update during four years? Appreciate help in advance.
Aman.

I think you have a corrupted copy of DD10 - try redownloading, painful I know.

Acronis bring out a new version of True Image roughly annually. Therefore TI9 has been superceded 4 times over. The latest version being TI 2010.

Once a new version is released then there are no more updates to the previous version generally speaking. There have been 3 post release updates; to the prior versions for TI 11, 2009 and Echo these are exceptions and have occured within 3 months of the new version release.

bodgy, My DD10 works fine. The msg. “DiskDirectorSuite10.0.2239_s_en.exe is not a valid Win32 application" has to do with file, when clicked to Run. DD10 is not even running at the time.
I do understand that new TI 9 upgrades are available. I am asking about UPDATEs, not UPGRADEs.
Thanks

aman,

bodgy is also talking about updates. Acronis rarely releases updates for older versions of their programs and TI 9 is quite a few years old.

DiskDirectorSuite10.0.2239_s_en.exe is the downloaded installer file. Did you redownload it to see if that gets rid of the error message?

What MD5 value do you have for the file? I have 4644d62d08b6a5556723035bfe37a15e.

Otherwise, send a PM to an Acronis Moderator and request another link.

Thanks MudCrab, I have re-downloaded and installed 2239 update w/out problem. I was asked to remove old version. I used original key to activate software.
The next issue is updating TI 9 build 3854, Dec.11, 2006. Acronis site, Software updates page list TI 2010 as free of charge update, not upgrade. However, there is no link to download .exe file. Indian support told me that I have to purchase TI 2010 and use new key to install. I am confused. It is listed as free of charge update, but I have to purchase it. What should I do? Thanks in advance.

Does it say Purchase Upgrade OR Get Free Upgrade? That's what my account shows.

The "free" link just goes to KB 3878.

You are eligible for a free upgrade if you purchased a previous version of Acronis True Image Home in the period of 30 days prior to the release of Acronis True Image Home 2010
The official release date for Acronis True Image Home 2010 is September 15, 2009.

THanks MudCrab. I have purchased software 4 years ago but did not use until now. I have archived C: to USB external drive but didn't try to restore back, yet. Does it pay to purchase TI 2010 or TI 9 will do as well. The archive file has .tib extension, I assume it is an image file. Isn't? How about .iso file extension? Thanks for help.

TI 9 should be fine with XP. Just make sure you can boot the TI CD and it can see all your drives correctly. Also, if you don't want to do a test restore, at least validate the image you created to make sure TI can read it successfully in the recovery environment.

The TIB file is the backup image file (assuming you created an image backup).

Not sure what you're referring to about the ISO file extension.

If you want try TI 2010, you can download and install the trial version. That will enable you to find out if it works correctly on your computer without needing to purchase it. Note that the trial version CD will only allow you to restore (you can't create a backup using the CD).

Thans MudCrab. I will stay with TI9 for now. I have .tib file on external drive, and I did Check achive, which was good. Would you please elaborate on how to do test restore and/or validate the image. What else should I do to be able to restore C:? Well, I have never realized how important backup is until was effected by virus and spent 3 days of hard work to restore software.
Thanks for help.

There's some general information on doing a test restore in this post. If you need more specific information, let me know.

You may also find it helpful to read Grover's guides (see Section 7).

I tried to load my Acronis DD-10 on new computer running Win7 Pro, x64 and was instructed to update, which I did. I am unable to run it as it tells me that I am using the 64 bit version. I really need to partition my new1tb drive, so is there a 64 bit version available? If not, is there a work around? Thanks, John

DD 10 doesn't support Windows 7 (see this post from Acronis).

DD 11 is supposed to support Windows 7, but hasn't been released yet.

Have you tried booting to the DD CD to use DD?

MudCrab, I can't create a rescue disk using TI 9 Image resque media builder. I got to the point of selecting E: DVD drive, which is recognized by Win Explorer, inserting CD-R or DVD-R, and clicking Proceed. It ummediately gives "Error burning the bootable CD-R/CD-RW." I use LG, GP08 CD/DVD burner and Nero Express 7, which works fine. Any advise? Thank you for help.

You can try creating an ISO file instead and then burning that to a CD using any ISO capable burning program. The alternate loader ISO version should also be available for download from your Acronis account.

Note: When installing Windows to any NTFS partition created using DD, let the Windows installer do a quick format of the partition. This will avoid problems later on.

I got the TrueImage9.0Home_s_e.iso file from tech. support, burned it to CD and reboot from CD to TI screen. I have two identical backup files, on indternal D: and external usb F:. Both were located when I booted from CD. Howeved, file named "C 022410_MyBackup.tib is shown under E: instead F:. I don't know why. Hope, I'am OK for now and will purchase TI 2010 for new Windows 7 PC. MicroCenter sells it for $20. Thanks for all your help.
