VERY Disappointed!

Thread needs solution

Dear Acronis,

I am very disappointed that Acronis are yet to release Disk Director products that are officially compatible with Windows 7! This new operating system has been upon us for a while now and remains virtually unsupported by your Disk Director products! Considering beta releases were available to the general public for a significant period of time prior to its final release, there has been ample oppurtunity to develop compatible versions and there really is no excuse for incompatibility issues to exist to this extent. Vendors are more eager to collect money from their customers than to provide service to their customers. I understand there might be valid reasons for the delaying product releases, but in my experience as a person employed in customer service I have discovered that communication is crucial in providing even fundamental customer service - I believe the communication by Acronis employees addressing the numerous customer complaints and enquiries regarding this issue has been inadequate. Furthermore, customer service is about expectations - do not indicate a deadline that cannot be met, even if this is an unofficial one! Just some food for thought in the interest of providing constructive feedback...

Yours sincerely,
Jason

The silver lining in the cloud might be that Acronis are doing EXTENSIVE testing of the W7 version, so that the bugs etc will be minimal, and OSS will be less pernickety. If this is the case then, the wait will have been worth it.

However, as you say, the difference between RC1 and RTM in disk structure terms will have been minimal if any, so apart from W7 slightly changing the disk API's between versions, I'd have hoped DD11/2010 would have been available by now.

The other reason it's taking so long might be due to the develiopers being tied up with sorting out TI2010 and ABR, which I imagine has a greater sales ration to DD.

Wouldn't it be a better solution to put DD and TI into one program?

That sounds attractive but I see two problems.

1. Acronis seem to have problems when they combine programs (parts of Privacy Expert are now in TI), they have enough weird problems with TI at the moment with all it's extra gizmos.

2. It could be even more dangerous and confusing for many end users, especially given that the manuals are not always clear.

I could just see some one becoming confused and rewriting their partition structures when they thought they were making an incremental image.

Hello all,

Let me clarify the situation and give you the official information.

As you may know, we (and some other software companies) are not able to provide the exact release dates, due to the following reasons:

1. Release date can be changed several times

2. Some product may not be released at all, despite the fact that it was developed before

Regarding next Acronis Disk Director Suite release: we understand that this is very important to include Windows 7 support to this product. I have consulted with our Product Management Team and they reported that this product is on testing period, we are trying to make it as more stable as we can.

We will send a newsletter as soon as we release the product.

Additionally to this, you are welcome to ask me any other questions concerning Acronis, and I will assist you further.

Thank you.
