Which type bootable media to create_Disk Dir 11?

Thread needs solution

Fairly advanced in some areas, but little experience w/ (real world differences) Linux vs Win PE (or other) bootable media. Read disk dir 11 help section, sticky on this forum & some Acronis KBs. Explains some basic differences, but not quite enough for me to decide. Not enough details on "if you use this type, you will / won't / may not be able to..."

My system:  Vista x64 SP2.  2 Seagate SATA internal HDDs (not RAID), Intel Q9400 CPU.  1 internal DVD burner.  Logitech wireless mouse / KB.

Devil's always in the details.  For system like mine, what are the important considerations NOT mentioned in help file's brief descrip, about creating Linux vs Win PE based boot CD?  Is it highly recommended to go to extra trouble of creating Win PE type, installing Win AIK, etc., vs the Linux based type when have a Windows based machine & hardware, like mine?

Notice in Bootable Media Builder, the default (even though I'm using Windows) is Linux media type.  OK - no prob so far.  Then has options of Linux like or Windows like (default) representations.  Assume latter would be best.

Thanks.

Cindi,

The main disadvantage for some people is that the Linux kernel doesn't always have the most up to date drivers, which is normally a problem if you've got the latest gee whiz machine. There are known problems with using the Linux based CD if you have external USB hubs and external WiFi, Card Readers and graphic tablets. Some wireless mice don't play nice, but PS2 always place nice as do most USB mice.

With Windows PE it uses Microsoft drivers and so if the device works in Windows, it will normally work under WinPE.

With the Linux based version, choosing Windows style options means that your disks and partitions will be labelled as Disk0/1 with partition letters as in Windows, if you chose Linux option you will see hda0/1 etc.
