Windows 7 worked fine with initial and 2160 builds

Thread needs solution

I've used all versions of Windows 7 for testing, including Beta, RC (builds 7100 and 7264), and now the RTM Enterprise version build 7600. With every one of these builds, the DDS 10 initial build and build 2160 worked perfectly. I've used DDS many, many times without a problem on both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Win 7.
Now I update to the build 2239, and I'm informed during installation that my operating system isn't supported.

I had to quit the installation and reinstall build 2160, which for what its worth STILL WORKS PERFECTLY.

Is Acronis going backwards, or is this a ploy to get people to buy a new version (which isn't even available yet).

For the past 5 years I've purchased the latest versions of both Disk Director Suite and True Image from Acronis. I've recommended to my customers that Acronis is the single best backup-imaging software available. But now I'm reconsidering that opinion.

Every year I've been suckered into paying an extra $20USD for upgrade protection, and every year Acronis has conveniently come out with the next version after the 12 month period has expired, thus making my $20 payments for nothing since same version upgrades are free to anyone who registers anyway.

Furthermore, I get no discount of any kind for being a long time customer. I have to pay the same as a new customer does for a new version (actually I've paid up to $120USD more if they were smarter than I and not paid for the upgrade protection).

I tried writing these complaints via the support form, but it conveniently doesn't work with either IE8 or Opera 10. I'm seriously contemplating taking my business and customers to another solution with decent support as that doesn't seem important to Acronis.

I couldn't agree more, the link below has the same complaint, i have posted in the thread linked below but i will post my reply in this thread also as i am so wound up with Acronis on there policy with updates/upgrades.

It's odd how build 2160 installed without issue on Windows 7 RTM but the new build 2239 doesn't, it's as if Acronis have blocked build 2239 from installing on Windows 7 so they can make more money from us, not very customer friendly is it, Acronis are taking liberties with it's customers, all they needed to do was release an update for Windows 7 as there was no need for a new version 11. It's a p**s take.

Because of the age of DD 10, my guess is that they did specifically block its installation on Windows 7. As far as I can tell, the major changes to the new build are to supposedly allow it to coexist with newer versions of TI and to block installation on Windows 7. None of the bugs I would call "major" are in the change log so I'm assuming none of those got fixed. This means they'll probably still be in DD 11 because DD 11 will probably be a "update" of DD 10 (from a code standpoint) even if it has a new GUI.

Of course, they broke DD in this build so I'm sticking with 2,160.
