Accepting blank smtp credentials

Hello,

I am trying to setup the e-mail parameters just using the smtp server and port but its failing to connect. The smtp server is reporting 'authentication failed'

I use this same sever for 2 other things without entering credentials and they work fine.

Does anyone please have any ideas, its driving me crazy!
