How to reset "red" status?

Thread needs solution

How does one use ADM in the following scenario?

1) Drive is going bad, which results in errors being written to Windows event log
2) ADM detects event log errors and turns tray icon red
3) I replace the drive but the past event errors are still in the event log so tray icon stays red

How do I reset the "red" status? I essentially want to tell ADM, "I've seen all of the errors up to now so you can go back to green unless you see new errors"?

It seems like I should use "Ignore Once" but what if the disk error generated dozens or hundreds of Windows events?

Correct, click on the ignore option, ADM will then only respond to new events of the type being currently reported.

Are you referring to "Ignore once" or "Ignore always"? The former doesn't seem to do anything.

Ignore once should do it, though if you have multiple warning or error events you have to click each one.

Next thing would be to check in Windows Event Manager, because this is where ADM gets it's warnings from, as WEM records a problem, ADM picks it up and displays it. So if WEM is still being notified, soemwhere you still have a problem.

I have this same issue. Though I've cleared the event log, the icon is still in 'red status' and there are over a hundred critical event entries in ADM relating to a disk that is no longer connected. Do I really have to select each in turn and choose

Try deleting the actual log file, which if memory serves is located in the hidden Windows\ProgamData folder.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that's a lot of messing about - AFAIK you have to disable the event service, reboot, delete the files, re-enable the event service and reboot again.

Allowing multi-select and applying 'ignore once' would make much more sense.

Agreed that there should be a way to dismiss events enmasse. Computers should make our lives easier. Clicking each and every critical event and then "Ignore Once" is a major PITA! Thanks in advance guys for fixing this!

Colin's suggestion works and it really isn't that hard to rename a file. Sure it should have an option in the GUI - fine. You get what you pay for, which in this case Acronis makes a nifty product and gives it away for FREE.

File to reset critical events:
C:\ProgramData\Acronis\DriveMonitor\winlog.xml

Just rename it to winlog.xml.old or something, quit the tray icon and re-open the application. Problem solved.

Nobody suggested it was difficult to rename a file. What you're describing is a workaround, whereas what I and others were looking for was a fix. As for 'getting what you pay for' - there are many, many free offerings out there that work perfectly well without resorting to such inelegant 'solutions'.

That said, this topic is over 2 years old.. I'm guessing most of us have moved on since it was posted.

Not at all. Just commenting on your addition to such an old post, pointing out that I and many others prefer fixes to workarounds and questioning the wisdom of telling a largely IT-literate audience that it's not so difficult to copy a file.

OK thanks guy - next time I won't bother updating. I thought maybe someone might want to know if they were in the same situation I was.

There's nothing wrong in that thinking at all. Your post, however, was worded in such a way as to suggest we had little or nothing to complain about and that we lacked the knowledge to rename a file - hence my reply.

I have the same problem.
Hundreds of red errors, and i have to right click ONE BY ONE, and in the process, we always end up clicking ignore always by mistake.

A simple CLEAR LOG button would solve all, and only warn about future events, if you need my help to add the button, i will be glad to help.

4 years without solving that simple matter is time enough.

By the way, in a skype conference, 3 friends had the same problem and uninstalled.
This problem is more common than you imagine, since a simple error for power down the computer and the need of checkdisk activated hundreds of errors in my friends machines.

kid, do not teach wrong. Just delete or rename the log do not solve nothing.
i tryed here and things remain the same.

I am uninstalling, and marked the notifications about new posts, if and when they solve this i will install again.
I am also removing the recomendation to use acronis from my blog, since my friends installed reading my article.

This should be classified as ABANDONWARE, since even SSD disks show wrong sensor temperatures.

I just came here:

http://www.hdsentinel.com/registration-topwaresale.php

The HD sentinel, a lot better, has a FREE version in this promotion link.
I got it, installed, and all problems are solved.

RIP, Acronis.

ADM is a great tool, FREE and works perfectly. Said that, what is working for me:

- Close ADM and go C:\ProgramData\Acronis\DriveMonitor\
- Open winlog.xml, copy all tags between <event_log> ... </event_log> (i.e. event tags)
- Open winlog_filter.xml, paste all copied tags between <exclude_filter>... </exclude_filter>
- Finally, rename all tags "<event" by "<parameter" and Save.
- Start ADM. Status icon should be green or at least yellow.

If you need fine tuning just read the events description and remove from exclusion those you want to see..

Hope this helps.
