Possible problem after uninstalling Drive Monitor

Thread needs solution

I have been using TI Home 11 under Vista for several months without any problems. Recently I installed Drive Monitor. Then yesterday I decided to uninstall Drive Monitor. The Vista Event Viewer Application log shows that one second after uninstalling Drive Monitor I began to get errors from True Image Home.

There are hundreds of errors, all similar except for the GUID value. A typical error is:
"Scheduler is unable to run task with GUID 'C73DF26C-DA36-4B34-A03E-033834498780' because of error 2 (Failed to find the file (folder) or the key (value) in the registry.)."

Looking over the event log it appears that the uninstall operation may have been interrupted by a shutdown which I most likely initiated. So I don't know whether that caused the GUID errors to start or whether this might be a problem with Drive Monitor's uninstll procedure.

In any case, I'm not sure how to proceed from here. One possiblity is a system restore but I am hesitant because of the risk of causing more problems. However, if I am going to do a system restore it needs to be done soon, before the restore point is erased.

Another approach would be to follow the recommendations in another forum to delete all task scheduler tasks, which would also be risky, and it would be tedious to re-create the tasks that I have created.

Any suggestions?

Hello John,

Let me assist you.

As you've mentioned the issue is caused by the malfunction of Acronis Scheduler that is used to manage all tasks. Uninstallation of Acronis Drive Monitor shouldn't any how affect the functionality of True Image.

To fix the issue, you need to delete all tasks or the task with GUID 'C73DF26C-DA36-4B34-A03E-033834498780' only. You can find the guide on how to do it at this KB article.

Please reply to this thread if you have any further questions.

Thank you.

Hi Ilya

Would these tasks have anything to do with ADM - they do say "AdmInvoker" and I too see this issue?

User 2 (NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM):
2-1 ~C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\TrueImageHome\prl_stat.exe for_scheduler
2-2 *AdmInvoker*
2-3 *AdmInvoker* *AdmInvoker* update_winlog
2-4 *AdmInvoker* *AdmInvoker* refresh_backups
2-5 *AdmInvoker* *AdmInvoker* email_notifications
2-6 ~*AdmInvoker*
2-7 ~*AdmInvoker* *AdmInvoker* update_winlog
2-8 ~*AdmInvoker* *AdmInvoker* refresh_backups

These look suspiciously like ADM tasks to me?

Hi Ilya

I think the reference document is also incorrect - to see the GUID's that are reported in the event log you need to use:

"get report"

which shows this list:

S:\pny-processed\Licensed Software\Acronis>schedmgr.exe
inst=rlx start=yes loc task=0-0 > get report

I have edited the System name and User names but all the reported errors in the event log related to those "Adm" tasks.

Now the list looks like:

All the "Adm" entries have been deleted

Since then no items in the application event log on Win 7 64 bit.

Looks like the uninstall of ADM does not tidy up the scheduler entries correctly.

Hope that helps - let us all know if my analysis is correct please.

Thanks

I noticed this same. I have installed and removed Drive Monitor too. Now in Event viewer there are thousands of those C73DF26C-DA36-4B34-A03E-033834498780 error, one or two every minute!

I do not have any C73DF26C-DA36-4B34-A03E-033834498780 named task and cannot found it via schedmgr.exe report either. So what I could do now? I really like to get rid of those.

Ah, this is so Acronis... :-/

Edit: Ok, I found it, I have to run schedmgr.exe as Administrator and then I found that task.

Today I have uninstalled Drive Monitor too. Exactly the same. Lots of problems. Arconis scheduler is not working any longer. I am using Windowx XP, SP 3. Don´t use Drive Monitor. I have to reinstall Acronis True Image Home2010 after I have rmoved Drive Monitor from my Computer.

Hello RayG

same thing on my machine Windows 7 32-bit. Uninstalling ADM fills up the event log.
I run schedmgr.exe (as administrator !) and delete all the tasks with ADM in it as you suggested.
Since then I had no more entries in the event log.

Thanks

Hi,
I have a similar problem except I have not been able to uninstall ADM v1.0.507. I get an error. Then I try to repair ADM. I get another error. I will try setting all ADM settings to their least effective positions and try uninstalling again. So far, my Acronis TI Home 2011 has not had a problem. Thanks for replying with a procedure to allow me to uninstall ADM without messing up my Acronis TI Home 2011 scheduler.

Hi,
I have included as an attachment a capture of the error message when I try to uninstall ADM v1.0.507. To summarize, it says the ADM configuration files are corrupt. After this error occurred I clicked on the help column on the left of the uninstall dialog and attempted a repair. The error message that followed was that the installation files could not be found to do the repair with. While I am waiting for a reply, I will try reinstalling ADM over itself and then try the repair again. Then if that works I will attempt another uninstall operation.
