Blue Screen after Deployment - Lenovo T520i
Hello,
I am trialing Snap Deply 4, and all was good upto a point. I have 2 brand new identicle Lenovo T550i laptops. I have configured 1 (it is running Win7 64bit) and successfully created a master image.
(By the way, I am using a windows server 2003 maching to run Snap Deploy 4 manager etc, it is in it's own workgroup, and the laptop is connected directly to it using a cross cable)
I can not get PXE to work. So I created a bootable USB drive with both The agent and the stand alone utility, and I have used both to delpoy the image to the second (identicle) laptop.
However, on reboot, just as Windows starts to load I get a blue screen. I can not give you the details because it flashes up very quickly and then the machine reboots. It then goes into the lenovo repair utility but this does not help (no surprise there)
there is 1 hard drive which contains 3 partiions (which were already configures out the box). They are;
System_DRV (C:) pri,act
Windows7_OS (D:) pri
Lenovo_Recovery (E:) pri
Can anyone help me solve this? I have been looking for a good imaging/cloning software for years (Still been using an old copy of Powerquest Drive Image. Can't get on with Ghost)
I really like Snap Deploy 4 so I hope there is an answer.
Thanks

Hi Colin,
thanks for the reply. No I am unable to boot into safe mode, I get the blue screen here too.
I am thinking it is a Lenovo thing. I have successfully taken an image of a brand new Dell Optiplex (Both the OS partiion and the Recovery Partition) and then deployed it to 3 identical Optiplex Pc's. All went without a hitch.
I have noticed that when you boot up the master Laptop from which the image was taken, and examing the HardDrive in Explorer, the lettering of the partionions is different to the the order and Drive lettering within the image (System_DRV (C:) pri,act
Windows7_OS (D:) pri and Lenovo_Recovery (E:) pri). On the Laptop the OS is Drive C, not D.
What I am going to try is to fomat the drive and just install the OS with no other partions etc, so all there is is the C Drive, and then see what happens.

Some Lenovos have a non standard disk layout, however I haven't read of anyone having problems deploying images to them.
I have had an X61 and currently an E420S, I haven't tried deploying to the E420, but then it has a standard disk layout.
As far as the CD showing different drive letters this is normal, the CD uses Linux and will often display drive letters in a different order to Windows. It also will allocate drive letters to hidden partitions such as the system partition. With all Acronis prodcuts is advisable to give all partitions actual names, though normally with an IBM machine the main partition has a name.
