Burn new image to external drive

Thread needs solution

good morning

I just purchased snap deploy 3 for my organization. I want to create an image of an existing workstation and place image on an external drive. Then I want to create bootable media that will allow me to boot the machine from the media and then restore that image if necessary. Can someone from support put me in the right direction

Hello Reo,

Welcome to our forum and thank you for your post. I will certainly assist you with your questions.

I will write down the scenario that closely matches your needs and if you need additional assistance, please let me know.

There are 2 ways to create an image using Acronis Snap Deploy 3. From Windows, by installing Acronis Snap Deploy 3 Management Agent - it uses up 1 license, or by using the bootable media called Master Image Creator. Please refer to page 46 in our User Guide which is available here.

Then, in order to restore this image, you will another type of the media called - The Standalone Utility. If you are thinking of using only the bootable media, there is no need to install the software at all. You can download the media from your Acronis web-account. It has all the components on it. Please check page 67 in the User Guide.

I would really appreciate if you can get back to me in case you have additional questions.

Thank you.

thank you very much for your response. I used the bootable media to create the image using the master image creator. This worked perfect and allowed me to create the image both on a network shared folder as well as on an external drive. the problem comes after I use the stand alone utility to restore from the image. The restore executes perfect but when the machine reboots it comes up with a bootmgr is missing. This has been very frustrating for me because I'm trying to push my boss into selecting ur product vs one of your competitors but I can't get the restore to workm

Hello Reo,

Thank you for the follow-up.

I would really like to help you with this problem. Usually such errors indicate that there is a problem with the Windows boot loader. Please try to restore it manually, you can check our KB article for details, or, let me know a little bit more about your setup.

Can you tell me a little bit more about the image that you created and deployed? Also, we have an Acronis report 51 utility which allows to collect Acronis report from unbootable computers, it shows the partition structure, mbr etc. I would really appreciate if you can collect one report from the "source" machine and one report from the unbootable "target" machine. We will compare the reports and tell you what is wrong.

I will follow-up with a pm with a download link for that reporting utility.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.
