Can I purchase Snap Deploy 5 Server For this??
I just want to be able to take a full system/disk image of my entire Windows Server 2008 R2 machine once per week, to an external drive, and just have it so if my server ever crashes I can atleast just pop in a new drive and recover my O/S fully intact and all setup as it was when I took the image??
Will a basic $121 Server Snap Deploy 5 single license all me to do exactly this?? works with RAID1 etc??

Hello,
As I understand you want to create the image of your Windows Server 2008, and to restore it in case if your Server crashes and you want to know if you can do it with Server Snap Deploy 5.
I will be glad to answer your question!
In Acronis we have to products which can help you to do this operation. I provide you with full information on these products and it’s your decision.
The difference between Acronis Snap Deploy 5 for Server and Acronis Backup for Windows Server:
First of all Snap deploy 5 is the product for deployment, it is used in case if you have to deploy one image to multiple machines.
Acronis Backup 11,5 is the product for protection of your system – you can backup the system or folders and after restore it.
1)Acronis Snap Deploy 5 for Server - is a flexible, efficient software solution for deployment of a fully configured operating system (with or without application software and any other data) to multiple machines. Because the product uses disk imaging technology, it is ideal for rapid bare-metal installations and flexible centralized provisioning.
Deployment is performed in the Acronis environment or in WinPE that contains components of Acronis Snap Deploy 5. In either environment, Acronis Snap Deploy 5 provides the graphical user interface (GUI). In addition, command-line mode and scripting are supported in WinPE.
A dedicated bootable utility enables fully-functional deployment with GUI on a stand-alone machine (a machine that is isolated from the network or is included in a network without Acronis Snap Deploy 5 infrastructure).
About Acronis Snap Deploy 5 Licensing policy,
- A machine license enables an unlimited number of deployments to a particular machine. You may want to use this type of license if you perform deployment to the same machine on a regular basis.
- A deployment license enables a single successful deployment to a machine. You may want to use this type of license if you perform deployment to the same machine once or infrequently. If deployment under a deployment license fails, you can perform another deployment under the same license.
You can use same methods of deployment, the detailed information you can find here http://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/ASD5/index.html#15822.html
I pay your attention, that if you want to deploy the image with stand-alone method, it is not recommended to put the image on the external hard drive, because there is possible issues with it. I advise you to use a network share instead the external drive or to choose another deployment method.
