Creating Bootable Media

Thread needs solution

Is there a way to create bootable media that has static tcp/ip settings? None of the computers I'm working with are DHCP clients. Therefore all 25 of them (should I but the software) would need individual boot CDs that have the static IPs settings hard coded into the ISO. If I just use the wizard in the Management Console to create a boot CD, I have to configure the Snap Deploy Agent to use static IP settings just after the target boots. Otherwise it defaults to DHCP which isn't going to work.

You can imagine this would be very time consuming if I have to go to 25 different computers, boot them with their own CD and still have to configure Eth0 to use a specific IP address so the Snap Deploy server and see it's ready on the network.

Thanks for your help.

Hello james darden,
Snap Deploy does not enable you to predefine boot media IP (although you can predefine the IP assigned to a machine after deployment).

The next Snap Deploy version will not include network pre-configuration for bootable media. To include something into an update, we must prove that most customers need it.
I'm afraid this scenario is not common, because booting 25 computers manually with boot CDs is tedious anyway. james darden, I believe you have a good reason not to use DHCP. But why having a specific IP address during deployment is critical? If DHCP is no allowed in your corporate LAN, you can create a dedicated LAN with DHCP for deployment.
