Creating a bootable USB flash (thumb) drive with Snap Deploy Agent AND the image file
Hi all,
I'm trying to create a Stand Alone deployment environment on a flash drive but I am running into some problems.
Background:
I want to be able to plug in a USB flash(thumb) drive into a computer, turn the computer on and boot to the flash drive, and then be able to deploy an image that is stored on the flash drive. (I mean, who wouldn't?)
I am able to run the "Create bootable media with Snap Deploy Agent" wizard and I am able to select my flash drive to be my bootable media but when I try to finish the process I get an error stating that it can not build because the flash drive has an unsupported file system (NTFS). It then tells me to first format the drive as FAT.
So I did format the drive as FAT and reran the wizard and was able to successfully create an Acronis boot environment on my flash drive.
HOWEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I try and copy my existing image onto the flash drive, I get a really generic error. Looked up the error and duh, FAT doesn't support files larger than 4GB. Well, the image is 6.7GB. So I'm in a catch 22.
I need NTFS to accommodate my image file, but Acronis will not create a bootable environment on a USB flash drive unless it is FAT formatted.
When I check the User Guide though, it states that NTFS is supported. I'm stumped and extremely frustrated. We notice that SD4.0 has been released, but we aren't sure we want to renew a product that has so many issues.
Any input is appreciated.
Phil

Anton,
I will give that a try. Do you know why NTFS isn't supported for the bootable environment?
Also, do you know if SD4.0 has fixed this problem?
Thanks,
Phil

Hi Anton,
I did try this option but doesn't work. Though I was able to boot from USB but split files were not recognized during the deployment. Can you help to know the steps for backup?
