Dell Optiplex 390 still not recognized

Thread needs solution

Still having the same problems that Snap Deploy 3 (3501-3504-3508) and Snap Deploy 4 Beta.

Still does not recognize the Dell Optiplex 390.

4 months and we have yet to have a working product. Why release a new version when you can't even fix these major issues that have been around on the previous version?

Hello Quaker,

Thank you for your post. I will do my best to help you.

Would it be possible for you to get back to me with the following:

1. Windows system information file.

2. Acronis Linux report collected from the bootable media.

I will check with our Development team to see our progress on this issue.

If you need additional help please let me know.

Thank you.

I provided this same info to the customer support team when I had Snap Deploy 3 installed. They recommended i try the Snap Deploy 4 Beta. It did not work so i have since then uninstalled it (which means i cannot get you the logs you are looking for although you should already have something similiar from us from a previous FTP transfer). I recently received another build from support which is another Snap Deploy 3 build. It does not even install correctly. We are nearing the end of patience with this product. Like i said in the earlier post we have had this product for several months and it has not been working as advertised. I have been kicked around by customer support to try several different versions each coming up with problems of their own from installation problems to licensing issues to functionality.

We really have no where to turn as phone support takes nearly an hour to connect and the chat support takes just as long. Ive sent emails numerous times including one to corporate comments and have yet to hear a response from a single person.

Same issues here , please send me link for beta version of snap deploy 4 with support nic dell optiplex 390

So I downloaded the trial of this program with the intent of purchasing once we got everything setup.

Like everyone else, I haven't been able to get the boot disk to work with the optiplex 390. I was told to submit some logs to support so they could send an updated boot disk.

I did that and haven't heard back. This has been atleast 3 weeks running now.

Hello everyone,

Thank you for your comments.

Dustin, I checked the status of your case and our Support team is currently working on resolving this issue, it appears that you lack certain drivers for your hardware devices.

kchev and Jason, I will send you a private message with the build that addresses this issue. Jason, I am terribly sorry for the delay, I am going to follow-up with our Management team about this.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

I am also having the same issue , but also including the R210 II server. I have seen that there is a newer build that addresses this. I shtere ant way I can get some help? Currently using build 3501 Snap deploy 3. Thanks

Same issues here , snap deploy 4 not detect / support nic dell optiplex 390.
Thank you in advance.

Hello Kevin, and Harun Baba!

Thank you for your comments. I will surely be glad to send you a link via PM in a minute.

Thanks.

I had the same issues with the Optiplex 390's. The Realtek NIC's are not recognised by Acronis and therefore do not allow you to choose to save a master image to a network share and also creates the issue of hanging at the 'Processing' screen if trying to deploy the master image as it cannot communicate with the deployment server.
I got the latest build of SD4 from Acronis support (after some trouble with links for the download etc), this build did not seem to help one bit so i then got asked to try and create a WinPE which allows you to include your own INF driver files to the image to allow the NIC to function correctly.
I downloaded the Windows 7 AIK (automated installation kit) from M$ and began building the WinPE image which i must say Acronis makes pretty simple with their plugin..
After creating this i had the issue of not being able to run the PE image from the PXE boot, i was faced with a black screen saying a problem had occured check and recent hardware/software changes blablabla..
I then tried to burn the WinPE image from an ISO file to DVD rather than put it through the Acronis PXE boot, this seemed to work fine, all drivers were loaded and i was able to create and image and deploy it too which was a step in the right direction.
However, i wasnt too pleased with this as the whole reason our company is using this is because we like the PXE feature, no need for discs, do everything from the server no issues! So knowing that we had a fall back plan for our 100 new machines i went in search of a PXE fix.
I removed all the componants that i had uploaded to the PXE server, rebooted the server and then reloaded the componants and enabled the PXE server and there it was, booted into PXE, attempted to type in a server DNS name to save the master image to and up comes a pop up box asking for server resolved it perfect!
Looks like the 282 build does fix the issue but you need to ensure you refresh all componants of the PXE server! THANK GOD!!!

My organization is having the same issue with Optiplex 390 NICs not being recognized and at this point, I have not been successful with creating a WinPE 3.x disk which loads the drivers for the Realtek NICs. Is there an updated Bootable Media I available I can utilize as I've seen posted above?

Thanks,

Josh

Hello TSL, and Joshua,

Hello Paul and Steve,

Thank you for your comments. I will follow-up in a few minutes with the latest version.

Please let us know if you need additional help.

Thank you.

May I have the latest version as well? I have approximately 10 Optiplex 390s that I'd like to try this software on.

Thank you,

Troy

Hello Troy,

Thank you for posting. I will send you the download link in a few minutes.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

I don't mean to cross-post or hijack threads, but we are having some severe speed issues with whatever driver is being used for this PC (and I want to solicit feedback from anyone else using this release). Using the latest build that Anton sent me, we are able to image our Dell 390 SFF PC's. However, the machines are connecting at 100Mb half-duplex on our gigabit capable switches.

If I get into the switch and force the ports to 1000 speed, the connection to the workstation *drops*. If I set it to 100 speed, and force full duplex, the connection comes up but the speed drops to 30kb or so. The best we can get is about 5.7Mb using multicast. Which is fairly lousy.

Any advice?

Thanks,
-Steve Ballantyne

Need new snap deploy media so we can push our images for the dell 390's and Dell e6520 machines. Please reply asap.

I deploy to 390's frequently using the WindowsPE method. I only had to do this once and if I remember it was quite trivial and the documentation was easy to follow. The default NIC in the 390's is the RealTek. Not sure about the e6520's but when you build your PE image you can put whatever drivers you want into it. True it is a little work (half hour or an hour?) but not very difficult. The PE image boots pretty fast and the image process is quite fast on 1Gb.

I am having the same issue as TSL above. I can boot the PE environment fine from a CD, but if I try to boot from PXE, it fails with the windows unable to load required devices. Any thoughts on how to get this to work on PXE?

Thanks!
Hunter

Trying to create image from a 390. Was able to deploy agent. When going through wizard, it shows error reading sectors. Proceeded anyway and like previous posts, was unable to see mapped drive on 390. I was able to connect to the Snap server. After selecting options, it stated that it, due to previous stated errors, had to perform a sector by sector image. My question is that after 20+ minutes, it still states preparing in the operation progress window and there is not progress showing. There has been an image file created and the server.

I am using Snap Deploy 4 build 268

Can someone send be the bootable media (Snap Deploy) so we can image Dell 390 workstations and above. Or provide me with the Windows PE Method. I have 30 machines I need to push an image to

Hi,

May I have the latest version as well? I've got 12 Optiplex 390s that I'd like to try this software on but the Nic isn't recognized.

Thank you,

David

To create a PE image, you first should download and install Windows AIK 3.0 on the server where Acronis resides. After that you can download from dell the Dell-WinPE-Drivers-A06.CAB for the Optiplex 390. Extract the cab with what ever utility you have handy. This should give you a package of the drivers needed to at least get the NIC and storage recognized. Most dell pcs have this under "System Management" in the driver section.

From the Management Console, click Tools, then Create PE image.
Select Use WinPe files located in the folder I specify, then navigate to the \Tools\PETools\x86 directory of the Windows AIK install.
Select Network Settings and put in the Server IP or DNS name of your Acronis server
Select Acronis PXE Server for media type (make sure there isnt one already there as well, as mine would give errors if I didnt remove the previous PE image)
Put in DNS or IP address of PXE server as well as credentials for access
Password protect this if you desire
click on add at the bottom and navigate to the PE driver package you downloaded and extracted.
Click Create on the next page and if all goes well you will have a working PE image for a 390. If need be add other driver packages to get all of your other systems to work.

Hope this helps. If not.. I tried! :)

Hi All,

I also have new Dell Optiplex 390 and have been using the Snap Deploy 4. Can someone send be the bootable media (Snap Deploy) so we can image Dell 390 workstations? Thanks.
