Deployment really slow through Acronis Snap Deploy

Thread needs solution

Hi

I have issue with Acronis Snap Deploy

The deployment is really slow
It takes more than 4 hours to deploy one image on Dell Optiplex780 and Dell Vostro 230 (image size = 10gb)

1. Snap deploy management console and all other component on server (windows 2003)
Image on the NAS (same IP range - same subnet - same switch)
PC on a network (same IP range same subnet)
8 hours to deploy on two PC (image size around 10GB) It took 15 minutes to create the image directly on the NAS

2. I tried to change network speed on the NIC on the target PC from auto to 100mb Full = same result
3. Change the path of the image on a local PC = same result
4. change the TTL from 15s to 5s = same result
5. I tried to install Snap deploy all component on my local PC (Dell Inspiron running W7 Pro), connet the target PC on the same hub with my PC and the same result, very slow to restore the image
6. I tried to restore the image by using acronis standalone version (no snap deploy console management) and it took 30 minutes to restore the image from my NAS to the target PC.

We bought 200 licences for the future deployment, and we are very frustrated with the snap deploy software.

Could you please help me to solve this issue?

It seems the issue comes from the Snap Deploy tools and not from the my network

Hello Frederic!

Thank you for finding time to report about the issue. I completely understand how upsetting this situation is, and will do my best to help you.

it's hard to say what slows down the process due to the lack of diagnostic information, but before we start with investigation I'd like to offer you a workaround: PXE update. I will send you the instructions via PM in a minute.

Should it fail to help, please gather the following data:

  1. OS Deploy Server logs
  2. Deploy Agent logs
  3. Acronis Info from the machine with PXE Server, Deploy Server and Management Console
  4. Wireshark output

After that please kindly contact support directly with the information attached (it will speed up the process of resolution). Keep in mind that should there be any procrastination with the reply, you can always specify us the case number. We will do our best to speed up the process.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!

Hey Frederic,

Check out the negotiate speed setting on your switch. If set to 100Full, and the client (be default) tries negotiating it will fall back to 100Mb Half Duplex. This causes the slow transfer speed. Try during agent start to choose 100Mb Full Duplex. That will probably result in acceptable transfer speed.
I tried setting the switch hard to 100Full, but still have to choose it as well on the agent.

Greetings,

Mike
