Error: E00070004:

Thread needs solution

Has any received this error? I'm using Snap Deploy 3, Trial, trying to learn product.
I've created both a test CD image and USB Stick, booting off both, getting the same message when trying to create a master image. I'm trying to save image the image to a network location.

E00070004: Failed to write data to the archive file. A possible reason might be poor media quality.

Any Suggestions?

Rick

Hello Rick,

Thank you for posting. I will do my best to help you.

It is possible there is a problem with saving the .tib file to your network share. It could be a permissions or a product issue. In such situations we recommend to try saving the image to a different location, check network folder permissions and then contact our Support team if the problem persists.

We offer technical support for the duration of the trial period.

If you need additional help please let me know.

Thank you.

Yes, I am logging in as the administrator who has full permissions on the share and on the NTFS folder.
I am using build version: 3470.
Also, I have been able to image to a locally attached USB Drive, so it seems to been network related. The server and the client that I'm testing, are both on the same sitch & isolated from all other machines. I have chagned switches in an attempt to rule that out as well. Both machines will connect to the internet, when running so that the nics are working under windows. The cables are connected directly from the compters to the switch, so there is no patching involed.

Please Advise.

Hello Rick,

Thank you very much for replying.

In this case please contact our Support team with a reference to this thread unless you'd like to provide a short summary of the issue to them as well.

I am certain we will be able to resolve it.

Please let me know if you need additional help.

Thank you.

Hi Anton & Rick,

I had the exact same error occur when using the Normal compression level. I tried to create the master image three times, and each time got the error. When I changed the compression level to Maximum, I was able to successfully create the master image. I was able to repeat the successful results at Maximum a second time.

I haven't tried any other compression settings, but this would seem to indicate the defect is related to the Normal setting.

SnapDeploy 3, build 3470 running on Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit

Hello Steve,

Thank you for posting. I will do my best to help you with this issue.

It is possible there is a bad block or some other error in your target location and when you use Maximum compression that space with the error is not used and you are able to create the image successfully.

Could you get back to me with the Acronis report from the target location please?

You can always contact our Support team directly if you need immediate help.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

Hi Anton,

I sent you two report files (one from the master image machine and one from the SnapDeploy server) via PM.

Please let me know if there is any other information you require.

Hello Steve,

Thank you for the follow-up, I appreciate you getting back to me with the reports.

There are some mft bitmap errors on both your machines on the partitions where your OS is installed. Please run chkdsk with the /r parameter and I am sure this issue will be resolved.

If you need additional help please let me know.

Thank you.

Hi Anton,

This has become an ongoing problem for me. I'm unable to create master images without constantly running into this error. I'm trying to create master images over a network (an isolated 1gb subnet) to a dedicated computer (HP xw8400, Windows Vista Ultimate x64) running the SnapDeploy3 console. The images are stored on a SATA RAID 5 (NOT the OS HDD) consisting of 3 2TB drives. If I create an image locally, then copy it to the SnapDeploy server, I can deploy it without issues. When I try to create an image over the network to the SnapDeploy server, I usually end up with the 70004 error. I cannot stress to you how disruptive this is to my workflow. It's costing me hours of time. Is SnapDeploy 3 incompatible with RAID5 storage? Is it incompatible with 64-bit operating systems? Is it incompatible with storage capacities above a certain limit? I've tried forcing the archive to split at 4.xGB in the event it's related to file size, but it fails with the same error.

I have another test lab asking me about imaging solutions, and as much as I'd like to recommend SnapDeploy, until I can get a handle on the master image creation problem, I won't advise them to use it.

Thanks,

--Steve
