IDT High Definition Audio Codec

Thread needs solution

Hello,
I am having an issue with using Universal Restore when deploying my master XP SP3 image to a Dell Latitude E5400. After deployment, I receive an error that there was a problem installing the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC. The device's co-installer has additional work to perform after installation is complete. This machine has no sound and in device manager the IDT HD Audio CODEC properties say that the device is not configured correctly.

The master image had Soundmax installed on it and there is no uninstall utility that I can find for Soundmax.

I have downloaded the latest drivers from Dell and receive "The hardware detected is not supported by this IDT software package. The install will be aborted."

I have also downloaded and installed the MS UAA Bus driver for HD audio with no luck.

I read that Dell requires a specific install order of chipset, audio, and video and i have tried that but the issue persists and I cannot get past the audio install.

I have scoured many forums and cannot find an answer to this issue. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Thanks!

Works like a charm.

Open Regedit

Locate this service :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AEAudio

and delete the whole key.

Also delete the file C:\windows\system32\drivers\AEAudio.sys
