Install SD5 on Server to be imaged? Save to a NAS?

Thread needs solution

I am replacing the four SAS drives in a Windows 2008 R2 SP1 Enterprise server (PowerEdge R410 rack) with larger capacity drives so I can move it from a RAID0 to RAID10. It has PERC 6/i.

I'm using Snap Deploy 5 to make an image of the server. Here are my questions:

1. Do I install SD5 on the server that I am imaging, or on another machine?

2. I have a NAS device that is connected to the switch on my network. I was going to use that to hold the image as it is a GB network and the transfer rates were faster than to USB 2 drive (I have no available slots for an eSata or USB 3 card). When I go to put the image back on the server, will it be able to "see" the NAS?

Thanks everyone -

Hello, Cathy

1. You need to install ASD Management Agent on a machine that you are going to image (master machine). You can refer to the user guide for details:
http://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/ASD5/index.html#1344…
Offline imaging (when the master machine is stopped) described here:  http://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/ASD5/index.html#1344…

2. Yes, it will (in most cases). All supported image locations are listed in the user guide: http://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/ASD5/index.html#1349…

Best regards.
