Machines restarting into PXE over and over
We're using Snap Deploy 5, latest build and we use the PXE to deploy our images. We're having a problem with some computers finishing the image but instead of shutting down like it's been set up in the configuration to do it restarts and goes back into the imaging. We have to manually pull the network cable right as the image finishes and then manually shut off the computer.
This can happen with computers using the exact same image. Some will shut down properly but others won't.

Hello,
Looks like Agent crashes after deployment. To investigate the issue, some technical information needs to be collected from the Agent. Please contact our support team http://www.acronis.com/support/ to get this issue resolved.
Best regards.

I worked with tech support this summer and all they could tell me was that it's a known bug. #blech
"Hello Jonathan,
I tried to contact you but reached voicemail. We have received update from the Acronis testing and quality team. As per the team they were able to reproduce the problem so seems to be some issue with the product itself. Hence, the case is now forwarded to Acronis Developers team who will be working on issue. There is not ETA available for the fix for this issue and it may take several days or weeks for the fix."

Hi all,
The problem is related to particular hardware (where the image is deployed to) compatibility with Acronis Linux pre-boot environment used during deployment. The standard "poweroff" Linux command doesn't shut down the machine as it should. There are the following possible solutions:
1) Use WinPE-based bootable media as pre-boot environment in Acronis Snap Deploy - WinPE is unaffected by the issue. You can upload WinPE images to Acronis PXE Server via "Upload PE Image to PXE" button
2) Wait until next update of Acronis Snap Deploy 5 which includes newer Linux kernel and as far as we've checked it fixes the issue for some machines. However this method doesn't give 100% warranty as there can always be some type of hardware which still doesn't work properly with specific Linux kernel version.
Thank you.

WinPE isn't an option for us. PXE does exactly what we need but this is frustrating that your team knows it's an issue for more than 2 months but hasn't fixed it.

Hi Jonathan, if you upload a WinPE image to PXE server, it should do the job.

Anna, I've said again and again that using WinPE isn't a viable option for us.

Has this issue been fixed yet? This is still affecting us in a highly negative way and it's likely we'll move to use a different software solution is this isn't fixed soon.

Hi Jonathan,
We've published a new update for Acronis Snap Deploy 5 in the end of the past year and this build contains new Linux kernel besides other changes. It may help in your particular case and if not, then I'd recommended contacting our support team for assistance for further troubleshooting.
P.S. One more thing I can suggest to workaround the root problem (machines reboot into deployment environment after deployment) is to disable Acronis PXE service right after all machines (pending to be deployed) are booted from it. The actual deployment process doesn't depend on PXE which is required only on pre-deploy stage.
Thank you.

I rna the update and tested on an existing template in the PXE and it seems to be working, HOWEVER, now when I try and create a new template under Manage Templates I get an immediate error.

Hi Jonathan,
This issue should be gone after deleting the DefaultOptions.xml file from the folder C:\ProgramData\Acronis\DeployServer\Settings\ and restart of Acronis Remote Agent service on the machine where you have Acronis Snap Deploy 5.0 installed. The problem appears due to changes in format of storing of the default deployment settings in 1656 build in comparison with the previous update. After these actions the DefaultOptions.xml file will be re-created. Note that it won't affect your existing templates - they will remain intact, i.e. it only affects the default deployment settings.
Thank you.
