Manually imaging, no new computername e.g.

Thread needs solution

Hi all,

i have to install some Optiplex 780 PC's.
I create by starting from CD a master image with the master image creator
to a usb-disc.

After that i deploy the image with the standalone utility, also starting from cd and using the
image from the usb disc.
The settings i made are new computername, create new sid's and bring the pc to the domain.

After restarting, the pc has the "old" name ( the name of the pc from which the image was created ).
It seems that the "new" pc don't have become new sid's.

I am using the actual snap deploy build.

Can you help me?

Thank's
Ralf

PS: Is it a problem of Windows XP SP3?
I see now that it isn't at the list of acceptet OS. If so, what do you think how long it takes that it works with SP3?

Now i test it with Windows XP SP2 but i get the same result!

The PC don't generate new SID's and don't change the PC-Name!

Need urgent help.

Thanks

Hello Ralf,

Thank you for posting. I will definitely assist you.

There is no problem if you are using Windows XP SP3. We fully support this operating system.

First of all, I would like to make sure that you are not deploying a sysprepped machine. There are certain limitations with this, including the inability to change the SID.

If this is not the case, then we need additional diagnostic information in order to resolve this issue.

I will send you a private message in a few minutes with instructions, so that you can submit a support request with the logs that will help us resolve this issue.

Let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

Hi Anton,

thank's for your reply.

It's not a sysprepped machine.
With Win XP SP3 there was no new SID's created and the computername was the "old" one.
Yesterday i setup the next of my new machines because i wanted to see what happens with SP2.
With SP2 the sid's would be created and the computername was changed.
But i only could image one PC. By cloning the second one i get a error message which was reported
here: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/11994

At the moment i create a new image...will see what will happend.
With the last one of my new PC's i can make a new test with sp3.

Hope i can send you a answer to your PM today.

Best regards
Ralf

It's frustrating.

By using the Stand-alone-Utility to deploy the image it says everytime,
that the file is damaged or not available.

Now i use the Management Console and deploy by using the agent.

It works with the same image!

Ralf
