Thread needs solution

When I create my pe boot disk the network interface is showing up but no gateway, subnet, or dns.

Could you clarify "I was able to do a cd but rather not"?

Does that mean you booted from the bootable rescue media CD and could use image creator successfully or do you mean you created an image and wrote it to a disc?

If you are trying to create the image from the server, you may have misconfigured the credentials at some point and could try creating a new template (instead of modifying the exsiting one) and see if that helps.  For the network location, you may need to ensure to use the full UNC path similar to:

\\servername\sharepath\   or    \\serverip\sharepath

and the username would be

domain\username   if on a domain or    servername\username   if the share in on a workgroup.  YOu want to be sure to use share permissions and not file/folder security permissions when entering the path.  This will help rule out if the full path is not traversible by that account being used at some point.

Example:  \\servername\sharepath with correct permissions vs

\\servername\D$\folder1\folder2\test.tib where the account does not have access to the admin$ share or folder 1, but does have access to folder 2, but can't traverse the path to get to folder2.

Thanks for the reply.  Yeah what I meant by I rather not do a CD is because it taking alot of CD's to do the image and I don't want 5 different files sitting on the server for the image.  I would rather have just one file.  I am using \\ for the UNC path.  Like I said earlier I am having no issues with the Lenovo's just these new dells we got in.  When I enter the UNC path it should prompt me for my login creditials but it doesn't.

David, could you write the image to a local USB external hard drive and copy them to the share that way instead.  I would not create an image to CD or DVD either.  Too many possibilities for burns to go bad with discs and recovery will be super slow anyway.

As for the non prompt of credentials, I'm curious if you are getting an IP on them.  I have some e7470's and am finding that I cannot boot to any type of legacy mode with them (even when specifically configured in the bios).  As a result, PXE boot doesn't work using legacy either.  However, when using ASD5 beta 1666, and UEFI PXE or UEFI boot with the recovery media, all is working as expected.  What version of SD5 do you have - 1660?  If so, I can send you a link to get the 1666 beta which has much better NIC driver support and driver support for the PCIE NVME hard drives like the Samsung OEM 951's and 950 Pro's.
