PXE Server supports less devices/drivers than bootable media

Thread needs solution

Hi there. We're using the newest build of Acronis Snap Deploy 5 (5.0.1.993) in our company to deploy images on new computers / notebooks. Some time ago we ran into a problem, that a lot of devices aren't supported by Acronis Master Image Creator or Acronis Agent when booting over PXE-Server. On some devices there's no network adapter found, on others no NVME drives detected. The funny thing though, if I boot with a USB-Stick using the bootable media you can create - both Master Image Creator and Acronis Agent will find those devices.

My question is - are the PXE-Server utilities somehow limited? How can I load all drivers, so that I don't have to use the USB-Stick all the time? Many thanks.

Hello Jactronic AG,

> On some devices there's no network adapter found, on others no NVME drives detected.

If you are using a default Linux-based bootable component, we'd recommend switching to a WinPE-based bootable media as suggested here https://kb.acronis.com/content/58006

Here you'll find instructions on how to create a WinPE-media and upload it to a PXE server https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/ASD5/index.html#13534.html
