Snap Deploy 3.0 hardware support for Dell Precision T1500
I'm having issues with the hardware suppport for Dell Precision T1500 workstations. The network card is not recognized by the bootable media utilities (agent, standalone and master image).
I tried with both isos (generated and downloadable) without sucess. The network card is a very recent Broadcom NIC. With the second ISO (the one with GRUB as the bootloader), i was able to enter in the service console. During troubleshooting, it was pretty clear that the network card was unknown to the underlying operating system.
While reading the forums, it seems it's not the first time the custom linux used for booting needs to be updated...
Here is a hardware list (lspci) from a running linux config:
00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Clarksfield/Lynnfield DMI (rev 11)
00:03.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation Clarksfield/Lynnfield PCI Express Root Port 1 (rev 11)
00:08.0 System peripheral: Intel Corporation Clarksfield/Lynnfield System Management Registers (rev 11)
00:08.1 System peripheral: Intel Corporation Clarksfield/Lynnfield Semaphore and Scratchpad Registers (rev 11)
00:08.2 System peripheral: Intel Corporation Clarksfield/Lynnfield System Control and Status Registers (rev 11)
00:08.3 System peripheral: Intel Corporation Clarksfield/Lynnfield Miscellaneous Registers (rev 11)
00:10.0 System peripheral: Intel Corporation QPI Link (rev 11)
00:10.1 System peripheral: Intel Corporation QPI Routing and Protocol Registers (rev 11)
00:1a.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation Ibex Peak USB2 Enhanced Host Controller (rev 05)
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation Ibex Peak High Definition Audio (rev 05)
00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation Ibex Peak PCI Express Root Port 1 (rev 05)
00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation Ibex Peak USB2 Enhanced Host Controller (rev 05)
00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 PCI Bridge (rev a5)
00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation Ibex Peak LPC Interface Controller (rev 05)
00:1f.2 SATA controller: Intel Corporation Ibex Peak 6 port SATA AHCI Controller (rev 05)
00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation Ibex Peak SMBus Controller (rev 05)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G96 [Quadro FX 580] (rev a1)
02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetLink BCM57780 Gigabit Ethernet PCIe (rev 01)
03:01.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Agere Systems FW322/323 (rev 70)
They probably need to upgrade the TG3 linux module. They may also need to include the latest PCIID database from http://pciids.sourceforge.net/.
While at it, please include "lsmod" and "modprobe" commands in the custom linux distribution. It would help in troubleshooting module related problems.
I'm currently planning to use bootable medias only, i'm not going the PXE route for the time being. Would it be possible to update the downloadable ISO to support the T1500?
Thanks,
Jasmin Lévesque

Hello -
Could you make sure to post if you have a solution for this? We also have recently purchased a T1500 and are having network card issues with Acronis Snap Deploy 3.0. We plan on submitting a support request as well, but if a solution has already been found then we can keep from duplicating troubleshooting efforts.
Thanks -

Dear IntegIS Helpdesk!
Welcome to our Forum, we are glad you joined us!
I really appreciate your understanding and cooperation! Unfortunately we haven't received any support data from MIS IT yet. So we will really appreciate in case you decide to gather the diagnostic information, submit a support case and tell me its number.
But before we get started with gathering the diagnostic information I would like to make sure that we have already tried all possible solutions. So could you please kindly specify whether you have already tried the bootable media from your account? it is built on another loader and may recognise the NIC properly.
Should it also fail to identify the Broadcom Network Card, please, gather the info requested in my previous comment and forward it to the Support Department. This issue is very important for us and any cooperation will be highly appreciated.
Thank you!

Here is the complete sysinfo output. The "lspci" part should give you the exact PCI ID of the Broadcom NIC. It's a pretty recent chipset.
It would be great if you could provide you customers the way to change/upgrade some drivers without having to go through all this.
This current problem and the inability to change SID and domain membership after a Windows 7 deployment are snap deploy's weak points. As read somewhere else on this forum, you are promising a newer version since end of Q2 last year. Are you planning to drop this product?

Our group had to deploy the t1500, and did not have the time for further diagnostics this time. At our next purchase we will be sure to inquire again and provide further diagnostic info if necessary at that time.

Same issue for me with the Dell Precision T1500. I can not get the nic to work event with Acronis Backup & Recovery WinPE plus the NIC Driver.
The nic is a Broadcom Netlink Gigabit. I will upload the Acronis logs later.
