Snap Deploy 5 & HP Proliant Gen9

Thread needs solution

Good Morning,

has anyone made experience working with Snap Deploy 5 (1416) and HP Proliant Gen9 Servers?
Creating an Image seems not to work for me right now.
I have tested it with the normal PXE Boot and an WIM Image with appropriate Drivers.
PXE Boot starts quite normal but then the Screen turns black and thats it.
With the Wim Image no Network Adapters are found, although i have tested several Drivers for the Interface.

Has anyone the same experience?

Hello,

As far as I understand, you use WinPE-based Bootable media uploaded to PXE.

Please clarify:

1. Can the machine be booted from Bootable CD (or a flash drive), but not from PXE?

2. Can it be booted without any added drivers?

3. Does PXE boot menu appear (with "PE Media" and "Continue OS booting" options)?

4. Does Linux-based media on PXE work fine?

5. If to select "PE Media" from PXE boot menu,  the screen turns black and nothing happens?

Also, try to add Acronis-related files/folders to exclusions of your antivirus software (if any).

The Gen 9 BIOS has a nasty bug. This is still the case with the very latest firmware U13 05/06/2015 BIOS Revision: 1.40.

Under the following conditions the MAC address on port 1 will switch between the MAC address assigned to port 1 and the MAC address assigned to port 4.

1. The SW RAID is disabled (done from UEFI).
2. Boot with legacy BIOS

Port 1 MAC address has an even numbered LSB, port 4 MAC address has an odd numbered LSB.
Carefully monitoring the MAC address on the switch port will show that both MAC addresses are present on the same physical wire.

This will fool the switch and other hardware and software to believe you have more than one system connected to the same switch port. Linux provisioners will first assume an already configured system and then immediately after thinks it discovered an none configured system

The legacy BIOS will furthermore trick you to disable the RAID with a message saying that SW RAID is not supported please disable in UEFI. Thereby forcing you into the situation.
