Snap Deploy 5 Machine Licenses Not Allowing Redeploy

Thread needs solution

We have a number of machines imaged using Snap Deploy 5 Machine Licenses. It is my understanding that these licenses allow for an unlimited number of redeploys to the same machine and the license should be tied to the MAC address. However, when we attempt to deploy a new image to our machines we receive an error that there are no free licenses available. (see attached).

Hello John,

You're right - each Machine License of Acronis Snap Deploy is tied to a MAC address, therefore if the hardware has been changed, you need to contact Acronis support team to get new keys (send the list of decommissioned machines with MAC-addresses and some document that can prove the old hardware has been changed).

If there shouldn't be any changes to the hardware, I'd recommend checking the MAC addresses of your machines and match them with the records in the license server. To enter the console of the License Server:

on the machine with the License Server start C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\License Server\LicenseServerConsole.exe and in the opened console go to View Usage Info.

Hello Ekaterina,

Thank you for the reply. There were no changes to hardware so looking at the License Server console I found that some machines have 2 or 3 Machine Licenses attached to the same MAC address. The last machine we attempted to image was F8:BC:12:A9:2C:04 which is in the list, so it should just use that license, but instead it looks for a new one. Seems rather strange.

John,

You should remove the above image for your security!

Hello John,

thank you for checking! I've found similar cases in our system, where simple update to the current build has resolved the issue. So in the first place I'd ask you to install the latest build 1761 from https://forum.acronis.com/comment/450118#comment-450118 and re-attempt deployment. Should the issue still reproduce, I'll send you the next steps.

Thank you,
