Snap Deploy and local images

Thread needs solution

Hi everybody. I'm new in Acronis Forums. I'm italian, I'm sorry if my english is not so perfect.
I purchased Snap Deploy 3 at work, and I'm using it succesfully to deploy disk imaging using multicast.

I would know if it's possible to use it for local imaging (i.e. create an image file of a partition in another partition of the same machine, without networking, same as TrueImage does).

I tried with Acronis Standalone Utility included in the bootable media created with ASD but it seems that it can manage only network locations and removable disks (not internal IDE/SATA hard disks/partitions).

Any suggestions? Do i have to buy also TrueImage for this purpose? I hope not...

Thanks a lot.

Hello, Nicola.
Thank you for your interest to Acronis Snap Deploy product!

Please save the image on a network share, detachable or Removable media, because internal hard disks of the target computer cannot be accessed during the standalone deployment. This is a product limitation. We are considering improving this functionality in the next version of ASD.

Thanks.

Hi Rustam! Thank you for your reply...
So I have to buy TrueImage for local imaging. I now would know just another thing... Is trueimage compatible with .tib images written by ASD?
I'm asking about this because sometimes I may need to move the disk from the ASD server in which tib images are stored to another machine to manually restore the image on the 2nd machine... (Just in case if, for example, multicast deployment gives any problem...).

Thanks a lot.

Dear Nicola!

Thank you for your question and explanation, I will be glad to answer it.

I regret to inform you that latest version of Acronis True Image - Acronis Backup and Recovery cannot restore the images created with Acronis Snap Deploy 3, they are not compatible. We also cannot guarantee that Snap Deploy will recognise Acronis Backup and Recovery images. You can see the list of compatibility here.

In case you have such issues, (when you need to deploy the image onto the machine manually) we need to solve them so that you could use the product in the most convenient way. I'd appreciate if you could kindly let us know the details of the problem and whether you've tried switching to Unicast mode (in Default options and in the template).

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!
