We have 2 ageing servers running server 2003 that are coming to end of life which have successfully seen us through multiple rollouts with Snap Deploy 2, 3 and 4. For Snap Deploy 5 we procured and new server with plenty or resource running server 2012 and installed SD5 and it was a disaster. From PXE boot with helper addresses configured correctly the following was happening .

1. Clients failing to enter console or at best huge delays
2. Machines failing to image (different subnets - but worked perfectly with SD4 )
3. On the rare occasion a multicast session did start, the progress status was way out of sync
4. Random drop outs at various points of the imaging process
5. Unicast was slightly more reliable but still far less reliable than SD4 but the progress issues remained

We have reverted back to SD4 using both old and new servers to see us through our current rollout after which I will hopefully revisit the SD5 issues.

If ASD server and PXE components had the same build, then it is strange behaviour. Probably, it is because of specific environment.
Some more technical information needed to get to the root cause of the problem.
