Standalone Recovery form external USB Drive fails - kills Partition

Thread needs solution

Hello,
I boot from an USB Stick an use the standalon version to recover an image form an external usb drive.
The Recovery process stoped with the two errors:
E00040011 and
E00770022 errocode 0*330022
and the Partition on my external USB drive is deleted.

I found out that it depend on the «Target disk layout» settings.
But how can I find out, which settings are correct?
When do I have to use «Default disk» and when is the setting
«Disk number in bios 2» correct?
Thanks in advance
Peter

From my testing at least, if using a USB drive you do not use default disk. It wiped my stick everytime.

Hello,
I tried 3 different motherboards. Two of them worked with default drive and one works with «Target disk layout 2».
I think it have to do with the chipset, but I'm not sure???
Does anyone have an idea?
