Toshiba Satellite Pro L500-1VW - Incorrect NIC displayed

Thread needs solution

Have recently purchased a set of Toshiba Satellite Pro L500-1VW laptops (http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/product/Satellite-Pro…) and have installed the trial version of Acronis Snap Deploy 3.

NIC in the laptop is a Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller - specifically the 8102E/8103E - http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PF…

Have created a bootable USB key and launched Master Image Creator but I am only offered (under eth0) the Realtek 8169. Not only is this the incorrect driver, but it also lists the cable as not being connected when it really is - or connected when it isn't!

Any chance you can provide an updated boot media that I can use on a USB key?

Hello Chris!

Sure I will be glad to help you!

Here we can either update the bootable components of PXE or - if it doesn't help - create a PXELinux, which may help to resolve the issue as well.

I will send you the instructions via PM in a minute, please follow them, and let me know whether  the issue persists.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!

Hello Yana,

Thank you for the response. I have received your PM and am working my way through it.

Might I request a feature to be added to Snap Deploy that allows you to automatically update these types of components from the GUI?

UPDATED:
I have tried a couple of times (both applying those new files and making a USB key) but I now get stuck at "Starting Acronis Loader..." and that's it.

Is there anything else I need to change to be able to create a USB key with the latest NIC support?

Hello Chris,

Thank you for replying. If I can help you with this instead.

I will definitely submit an enhancement, I believe it will be a very useful feature for our Customers.

As for the technical issue, can I suggest the following:

1. When you see Starting Acronis Loader text, please press the F11 key.

2. You will receive a pop-up with a word quiet in it. Remove that word and press ok. After a few moments you will be taken to the # prompt. If it does not appear, press enter a few times. In the # prompt please type this command and press enter: /bin/product

This command will take you to the GUI immediately and should fix the problem, if not, please proceed as described below.

Let me know exactly what happens after issuing the /bin/product command, and if you have a digital camera, it will help us if you can take pictures of any text that appears. Also, if you do not get the # prompt after removing the word quiet, please take pictures of any text that appears after that as well.

All of this will help us determine the exact cause of this problem.

Looking forward to hearing from you, if you have additional questions, please let me know.

Thank you.

Hello Anton,

Thank you for replying.
F11 does nothing when I press it at the "Starting Acronis Loader" text.

Hello again, Chris,

Thank you for replying.

Yes, you can definitely try using Acronis Backup and Recovery 10 since it is a newer version and it may have hardware drivers that Acronis Snap Deploy 3 lacks.

As for the other issue, we are still working on it as I mentioned in our private communications.

Please accept my apologies for the delay and let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.
