2016 True Image will not add previous backups to list

Thread needs solution

True image will not add previus backups. When I click add I can navigate to one on an eternal hard disk, highlight it, click add--and nothing happens ecept it's not listed under backups. In windows I made sure the file was validated, then made sure all permissions for sharing were in order, and still nothing happens I completely lost use of an ssd boot disk which I am trying to recover due to a failed Windows 10 upgrade I am now working from a win 7 hard disk, but do not want to recover the ssd backup to the hard disk Im using to boot and on which I have installed True Image 2016.

This won't fix your exact issue with getting the image to show up in the Windows Gui, but for the purpose of restore, why not use your offline bootable recovery media to start the restore process?

If this is a full disk or parition restore, you should use the bootable media anway.  Starting such a recovery in Windows modifies the windows bootloader and replaces it with Acronis temporarily.  Should it fail to boot, it won't automatically restore the Windows bootloader so can render your OS unbootable and may require a system respair.  Basically, why take the risk to achieve the same thing - use the bootable recovery media for any full disk or parition recovery and you won't have this possibliity and the restore outcome will be the same.

I just upgraded to version 6571 and cannot import my previous backup. I can see the tib file with it's incremental backups in File Explorer.

BTW i had to uninstall, use file cleanup (see article 48668), before 6571 would even install. Now this problem. Acronis is NOT impressing me. Seems they are using the user community to "fix" their software! Frustrated user!

farmerdave62 when you say you can't import the previous backup, is it not allowing you to do so (like you import it, but nothing happens), or you're just not finding the option to do so (see screenshot).

Thanks to your post I was able to add the backup. I went ahead and created a new image which took around 4 hours on our local network. I tried the Acronis cloud but out here in the sticks it would have taken at least a week. I've not tried to restore from the file on our personal network cloud, which BTW I need to learn how to do. Thanks, Dave

Glad that helped!  Yeah, Acronis Cloud is only as good as you ISP bandwidth upload speed (not download speed) and that can be quite long.  It took me nearly 2 weeks with a 5Mbps upload to get 500Gb to the Cloud, but now the daily changes only take a couple of minutes.  Although very slow, if I have a fire, total hardware failure, theft or catastraphe, I know that I can still recover my data using the Cloud since it is an offsite location.  I primarily only use the Cloud backup as a third backup option.  1st is to a local drive in my computer and 2nd is to a local NAS device in another room in the house.  If you can see your network cloud on your Windows system, it's likely you can either mount it as a drive letter in Windows and use that as the backup location, or connect to it using the UNC path (like:   \\wdmycloud\myshare       and then use your credentails like                      wdmycloud\myusername                   and provide the password.

If you are planning to connect to the external side of your network cloud, that will be more difficult though, but is possible using applications like dropbox, onedirve, etc.
