30+ mms_mini.exe

Thread needs solution

I upgraded my Win 7 to Win 10.   Old version of acronis did not work so I upgraded to Acronis 2016.   Now my system crashes every 4-6 hours and there are 30+ processes in task manager and TCPView linked to mms_mini.exe.

Any ideas what the issue maybe or how to resolve?

What do your windows 10 system and application logs show? How is the system crashing - a BDOD? If so, you can use bluescreenview to check the error code for additional details on the crash dump. It may be Acronis. It may be something introduced from upgrading Windows 10. It may be a combination of both or something else.

if logs don't help, remove 2016 with the cleanup tool, reboot, download the latest version again and be sure to install by right clicking and "run as administrator". Others have had to temporarily disable Antivirus first. Some have had to run the installer in Windows 7 compatibility mode. I haven't had any issues but I have a clean win 10 install and started with 2016. I have upgraded to 2017 beta and all is still well. I have upgraded to win 10 anniversary with 2017 beta 2 and all still seems to be well.

Greetings jondrejik,

The mms_mini.exeprocess does belong to ATIH 2016.

Why do you believe it is responsible for your system's instability?

I would recommend reviewing the System Event Viewer for more information regarding the health of your system?

Have you performed sfc /scannow from a elevated comand prompt to ensure the integrity of your OS files?

I would also like to add that the W10 Anniversary Update (from last week) has wrought a great deal of havoc.  I myself had 2 machines that were updated previously (from 7 and 8.1) working fine for many months, which basically stopped functioning after the desktop loaded.  Intermiitent freezing, refusing to come our of sleep, etc.  This has since been resolved, but what a pain.

Have you tried removing Acronis from your machine and observed it's operation and behavior?  Does it still crash?  30 instances of the same process does sound excessive, but this may not be the root cause of your issue.  When you upgraded, did you remove the old version and use the clean up tool before installing 2016 or did you install over the top of the previous version?

More information about the troubleshooting steps you've taken thus far might help.
