4K (UHD) resolution support

Thread needs solution

Has anyone else found that Acronis is not useable if you have UHD 4K resolution monitors. Just upgraded to Acronis 2016 and then updated to the very latest version -was hoping this will solve the problem. Not very smart if this is the case considering just about every new laptop sold in the USA nowadays have 4K monitors. In my case I am not going back or changing my resolution for an application. Time to shop around-or not?

Hi DB,

our development is working on support of high resolution monitors and each update contains certain improvements.

Could you please clarify what problem exactly you've faced and if possible attach a screenshot?

Thank you,

Hello, It appears I am having the same or similar issue with readability.

Before I upgrade, please see attached advise if issue is resolved in the latest build.

Thanks

Paul

Paul, thank you for your screen shots and system information.

Using ATIH 2014 installed on a Windows 10 system is not officially supported but that is just an aside at the moment.

I would recommend making a backup of your current system then uninstalling ATIH 2014 and installing a Trial copy of the standard ATIH 2017 build 5554 version to see how this works on your high resolution display.

The backup may be needed as you may not be able to reinstall ATIH 2014 again so may have to restore the backup to get back to where you are today.

An alternative approach would be to open a PreSales Support Case directly with Acronis Support to ask what they have specified as the highest resolution supported by ATIH 2017.

I just had to do a restore on my laptop that has a 4K resolution screen, and the screen was barely readable. This is Acronis 2018 build 10640 (that's the latest, right?). The initial boot menu was almost invisible, but I was able to barely make out which number was which item. Choosing Universal Restore then went to a blank screen. I waited at least 15 minutes, and nothing appeared. I then started again and chose TrueImage this time. It came up ok, but the window occupied only a quarter of the screen, if that. It was extremely hard to read, and even harder to position my mouse on the right spot for making selections. Maximizing the window made it fill the screen, but didn't change the size of anything (text still tiny, lines of choices very close together, etc), so it was still extremely hard to use.

The good news is that the restore was successful, but I have to say I was nervous because I wasn't positive I made all the right choices.

Thanks,
Dan

Hello Dan,

Thank you for sharing your experience! Glad to know that restore went successful. I've clarified the status of 4k support with my colleagues from the development team - some improvements have been already implemented in Acronis True Image 2018, but the major change is planned for the next product version (internal ID for reference TI-109469).

Thank you,

I to am suffering from a very small UI and I'm not using a 4k screen. Any news on when the fix release might be available.

Best regards,

Ian

Ian, welcome to these User Forums.

ATI 2019 is currently undergoing Beta testing with users but I cannot advise if this particular issue has been addressed or not?  You are welcome to join the Beta program and test for yourself then report your findings in the separate Beta forums that you will get access to.

Hello all, dear Acronis team,

I just sent a change request to fix the issues on 4K UHD panels which still appear in the actual version of True Image 2020.

Used hardware is a DELL XPS 13 7930 with 4K UHD panel.

I tried WinPE-based media built 64 bit, several variants with and without hardware drivers.

Problems:

- The recovery from boot media is problematic due to the problems illustrated with attached screen shots.

- None of the boot media variants works properly on a 4K UHD panel.

- The boot media recovery software does not scale properly on 4k UHD panel.

- The menu bar does not scale with the fonts and is unreadable.

- Buttons, checkboxes and icons do not scale with the fonts and appear far too small.

- Dialogues do not scale with the fonts and are hard to use.

I would appreciate any feedback when a solution can be expected, i. e., the recovery software becomes fully readable and usable on low-res as well on high-resolution displays.

Thanks ahead & best regards

Andreas

My recollection is that the MVP Tool - CUSTOM ATI WINPE BUILDER will allow you to use such monitors. Not tried it myself as I only just got a 4K monitor which I use as second monitor.
