Accessing File Backups

Thread needs solution

I have been a long time happy user of ATI for both image copies and file backups.  Monthly I do scheduled file backups of Documents (full copy) to my NAS.  This has worked perfectly for years.  In the past I could navigate out to my NAS, double click on the backup file.  Then I would be prompted for a password and I could navigate through the various folder structures to quickly get to any file/folder in the backup.

I just tried to access a monthly file backup I made using ATI 2016 (which I upgraded to earlier this year) and I keep getting prompted with a popup windows entitled 'Please locate the last volume of the backup.'.  Since it is a full backup this does not make sense.  Anyway I can either select the backup that I had originally clicked or CANCEL out of the window - that seems to let me get down to the next layer in the backup hierarchy - the full backup.  Then I double click the full backup and I again get prompted with a popup entitled 'Please locate the last volume of the backup'.  Again I can reselect the backup or just CANCEL and now I am one level lower in the backup hierarchy i.e. C: drive.  I seems like I can continue in this fashion working my way down to the file/folder I want but it is extremely tedious and I never had to do this before.

And when I try to navigate through a differential backup it is much worse.  I get a similar issue asking me to locate the last volume of the backup, immediately followed by another popup to 'Locate the volume with number '1'.  Then as I navigate further it keeps asking for different volumes, perhaps depending upon where I am in the backup hierarch (i.e. last volume, volume with number 1, volume with number 2, etc.) - literally with each folder click I have to respond to multiple popup windows.

This is crazy.  Anyone know what is going on with file backups and ATI 2016?

OK, it looks like this issue is related to accessing file backups through Windows File Manager, which used to work quite well.  If I instead go in through ATI then I can navigate through the backup hierarch properly and restore as needed.  However being able to go into a file backup through File Manager was a super nice feature.  I wonder if that will get fixed.

Tony,

This is a known issue and there is a fix...please refer to the link below:

It has happened to me...and it is very annoying.  Glad the fix worked.
