Acrnis .tib file size

Thread needs solution

Acronis was backing up C: drive.  Backup .tib file exceeded space used on C: by a significant amount.  Destination Drive ran out of space.  Why was .tib file so large?

Hello Russel, we would need some information in order to understand why your backup .TIB file was so large, it is possible that your backup performed a sector by sector backup due to a problem with the source drive, and thus the final image size will equal the size of your source drive.

Please download a copy of the Log File Viewer App from this forum and use this to check the messages in the log file for the task that created the very large backup image file.

If there is a possibility of the source drive having a problem, then please run a CHKDSK /F /R against the drive - you can do this from within Windows and have it schedule to run at the next system startup.

You are correct.  Backup was Sector-by Sector.  I didn't realize that backed up the entire drive, even parts without data.  Thanks for a working solution.  Three attaboys to you!
