Acronis 2016 backup problem

Thread needs solution

The last scheduled backup failed, saying backup drive is full, when I opened acronis to try a manual backup. it is saying that my C: 480gb ssd is 3.9.TB

Windows  and acronis disk director still recognises it as 480 gb.

When I change my source drive an reselect it sees it as a 480gb. but as soon as I select Backup now, it goes back to 3.9 tb.

Ed, if your backup drive is full, then the information shown in the ATI GUI may simply be the total size of the backups that you have already created on that drive, rather than just the size of data on your SSD that you have selected to backup.

You should be able to test this by using the Clone settings option for your task to create a duplicate of the task (prefixed by (1)) and pointing this at another target drive with sufficient free space.  You don't need to actually run the duplicate backup task, just check what is shown for sizes?

This is not  a problem with my backup drive, it still has 2.6 Tb free. It is Acronis not reading my source drive properly.

3.9 TB instead of 480 GB

Ed

Ed, if it is not reading the source drive correctly it suggests there may be an issue with the source drive. This hopefully can be fixed by doing diskcheck, if that does not work then the drive manufacture may have a utility that can check the drive for problems.

There are various parameters that can be used as described on the Microsoft site. I would suggest using the switches to

fix errors - /F

move bad sectors - /R

Hope this helps solve the problem you are having.
